Sky Cinema new releases: What’s on in September
Nosferatu - 5th September

Robert Eggers (The Witch) tackles a big budget remake of the original horror classic. It’s basically an unofficial adaptation of Dracula, with the names and locations changed, so the story will feel pretty familiar to genre fans.
Eggers does find some interesting new wrinkles in the source material though, and Bill Skarsgard’s villainous Count Orlok is a disgusting, alluring, terrifying presence. Also stars Lily-Rose Depp (The King) and Nicholas Hoult (Superman).
Amongst the Wolves - 6th September
Gritty Irish thriller about a homeless ex-soldier who encounters a teen on the run from a violent gang. Stars Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones) and Jade Jordan (You Are Not MY Mother).
One of Them Days - 7th September
Slacker comedy starring Keke Palmer (Nope) and singer SZA. When one of their boyfriends blows the rent money, two best friends face a race against time to come up with the cash before they’re evicted.
The Brutalist - 12th September

Oscar-winning period epic about an architect who flees the holocaust and sets up a new life in the USA. Fair warning - this film is very long. In fact, it was shown with a 15 minute intermission in cinemas.
But if you can stand to be glued to the sofa that long, this is a beautiful, brutal film about art and defiance, and the things we leave behind. Stars Adrien Brody (The Pianist), Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) and Guy Pearce (Memento).
Die Alone - 13th September
Post-apocalyptic horror thriller starring Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) and Frank Grillo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier). During a zombie outbreak, a young man with amnesia teams up with a hardened survivalist to find his missing girlfriend.
Spin the Bottle - 14th September
Teen horror about a bunch of highschoolers who play spin the bottle in a haunted house and unwittingly unleash an evil spirit. First Ouija, now this… how long until we see a game of Monopoly used as a conduit for those pesky dark forces?
Features Ali Larter (Final Destination) and Justin Long (Barbarian).
Wolf Man - 19th September

Leigh Whannell, who brought an interesting, modern spin to The Invisible Man back in 2020, turns his attention to another classic Universal Monster. This time lycanthropy serves as a stand-in for generational trauma and degenerative sickness.
Christopher Abbott (It Comes At Night) transforms into the hairy moon-botherer of the title, while Julia Garner (Weapons) plays his besieged wife.
Love Hurts - 20th September
John Wick-style action comedy about a former hitman who is drawn back into his dark past when his ex-partner’s life is threatened. Stars Ke Huy Quan (Everything, Everywhere, All At Once) and Ariana DeBose (West Side Story).
Wish You Were Here - 21st September
Romantic drama about a woman who falls for a guy after a night of passion, only to discover that he harbours a troubling secret. This is directed by Julia Stiles - yes her from 10 Things I Hate About You - and stars Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan) and Mena Massoud (Aladdin).
Novocaine - 25th September
Credit: Novocaine | Official Trailer (2025 Movie) - Jack Quaid, Amber Midthunder (Paramount Pictures, YouTube)
Action comedy starring Jack Quaid (The Boys) and Amber Midthunder (Prey). Quaid plays an ordinary guy with an extraordinary condition - he can’t feel any pain.
When the woman he loves is kidnapped, he must fight to get her back. Unsurprisingly, he gets injured. A lot.
Panda Plan - 26th September
Martial arts legend Jackie Chan faces off against an international crime syndicate to save an imperilled panda. What more do you need to know?
Juliet & Romeo - 27th September
Musical adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic. It’s an old story, given a little freshness by the introduction of some new original songs.
Also, it’s got a decent cast including the likes of Jason Isaacs (the Harry Potter films), Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) and Rupert Everett (My Best Friend’s Wedding).
